Former Jharkhand DGP MV Rao takes VRS, to do farming in his native village 

 

 

 

JHARKHAND: Former Director-General of Police (DGP) Jharkhand, MV Rao has reportedly opted for voluntary retirement scheme (VRS).

Neeraj Sinha, an IPS officer of 1987-Batch, has been appointed as new Director-General of Police (DGP) of Jharkhand. He is holding the additional charge of DG, Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB).

 

MV Rao was the police chief of this state for 11 months. Late in the evening of February 11, he was suddenly removed from the post of DGP and Neeraj Sinha was made the new DGP of the state.

 

On his appointment, Sinha said that his priority will be to carry forward the good works of his predecessors and continue the campaign against Naxalites in the state.

 

MV Rao has decided to quit his job after which he will spend his life in his ancestral house in Andhra Pradesh. Rao plans to do farming in his native place, Vijayawada, also known as Bezawada. 

 

 

“I am grateful to all those who encouraged me to do my job as DGP. I am grateful of people who were critical for having kept me alert and do better. I am also grateful to persons who spewed venom for making me stronger,” Rao had tweeted earlier.

 

IPS officer MV Rao was appointed as the new Director-General of Police (DGP) Jharkhand, he replaced IPS officer Kamal Nayan Choubey who had been transferred to the Police Modernisation Division Camp in New Delhi. Rao was serving as the DG Fire Services and Home Guards.

 

Although, MV Rao is upset as the government of Jharkhand took a sudden decision to appoint a new DGP for the state without his knowledge because of which he decided to quit the job himself as only 6 months of his career was left. He started his career as SSP (Senior Superintendent of Police) and ended as DGP (Director-General of Police ) of Jharkhand. In his 34 years career, he worked for Bhagwat Jha Azad, Jagannath Mishra, Lalu Prasad Yadav in Bihar. In Jharkhand, he worked under Hemant Soren.
