FIR to be filed against Crime Branch policemen for ‘shock treatment’ of suspects

PIMPRI NP NEWS NETWORK- Taking a tough stand against policemen who detain people on suspicion and then extort money from them, Pimrpi-Chinchwad police commissioner R K Padmanabhan on Friday ordered registration of FIR against policemen from Crime Branch unit 1 for allegedly torturing some suspects and extorting Rs eight lakhs from them. They were detained on suspicion that they were involved in batteries theft from mobile phone towers.

The complainant, Ishtiyaq alias Mushtaq Malahu Khan of Kondhwa, claimed he was tied with a table and beaten. His employees — Sumeet Yadav, Abdul Shaheed Salam Khan, Rakesh Gautam, Mohammad Khan, Abdul Khan, and Wasim Khan — were also detained. One of them Abdul Shaheed Salam Khan was allegedly subjected to electric shock.

The complainant runs scrap business and has a unit at Khed Shivapur. They were picked up by the police for the unit and detained for two days. He alleged that the cops demanded Rs 10 lakhs for not filling case against them.

After paying about Rs eight lakhs, they were released. On Monday, they lodged complaint with the police commissioner’s office against policeman Ramesh Nale and others.
