Cyclone Tauktae causes havoc in Gujarat, PM Modi gives Rs 1000 crore for immediate relief

Ahmedabad : Prime Minister Narendra Modi has announced a financial assistance of Rs 1000 crore for immediate relief to Gujarat affected by Cyclone Tauktae. Along with this, PM Modi also announced an ex-gratia amount of two lakh rupees for the families of those who lost their lives due to cyclone Tauktae and Rs 50 thousand for the injured in all the affected states.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday conducted an aerial survey of the affected areas of Gujarat and Union Territory of Diu and then a review meeting to assess the damage caused by the cyclone Tauktae. According to a statement released by the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO), the Prime Minister said that the central government is working closely with the affected states in view of the situation arising out of the Tauktae cyclone.

The Prime Minister expressed solidarity with the families of those who lost their lives in this disaster while expressing solidarity with the affected people in various parts of the country. According to the PMO, the Prime Minister paid two lakh rupees to the families of those killed during the cyclone in Kerala, Karnataka, Goa, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Rajasthan and Union Territories of Daman and Diu and Dadra-Nagar Haveli and announced a compensation of 50,000 rupees to the seriously injured.
