According to the Mumbai Meteorological Department (IMD), the cyclonic storm is 95 km from Alibaug-Mumbai. According to IMD, it can hit the beach at a speed of 120 km between 1 pm and 3 pm. 6 feet high tides can arise during storm. However, Mumbai is ready to deal with cyclone. 80 thousand people have been evacuated to safer places.

20 teams of NDRF deployed in Maharashtra
20 teams of NDRF have been deployed to deal with the cyclone. It has 8 teams in Mumbai, 5 teams in Raigad, 2 teams in Palghar, 2 teams in Thane, 2 teams in Ratnagiri and 1 team in Sindhudurg. In two weeks, the country is facing another storm. Amphan had caused havoc in West Bengal and Odisha earlier. It is expected to hit the coast in Alibaug by this afternoon.

Restriction on people
Considerable arrangements have been made in Mumbai to deal with the storm and prevent loss of life and property. Section 144 has been imposed in Mumbai. People have been asked not to go to the beaches for picnics. There is a ban on going to parks. People have been appealed to stay in homes.

NDRF, fire brigade and army have been kept on alert. According to the Meteorological Department, the effect of the storm will be maximum in Daman, Diu and Dadra Nagar Haveli. There is an alert of heavy rains in many areas of northern Maharashtra including Mumbai and Konkan. In addition, there is a possibility of storm effect in many areas of southern Gujarat.

Apart from Mumbai, the storm can cause havoc in Gujarat. It is raining heavily in Ahmedabad. Even high tides have started to rise in the sea around Navsari of Gujarat.

47 villages vacated in Gujarat
Valsad and Navsari district administrations have started evacuating nearly 20,000 people from 47 villages located in the coastal areas of the state, amid preparations to deal with cyclonic storms in Gujarat. The meteorological department indicated on Tuesday that the cyclonic storm may not hit the Gujarat coast. However, its effect may come in the form of strong winds and heavy rains in coastal areas.
