Coronavirus : 88% Indians in Favor of Extending Lockdown According to Survey

New Delhi : Coronavirus (COVID-19) cases in the country continue to increase. As such, about 88 percent of Indians feel that the 21-day nationwide lockdown, which ends on April 14, should be extended. This was revealed in a new survey on Thursday. The findings also showed that 88 percent of respondents are refraining from ordering food online during the lockdown period. The survey included feedback from 40,000 app users. Accordingly, 92 percent of the respondents feel that the private sector should be allowed to conduct the Covid-19 test.

The survey stated, “Lockdown is the best way to prevent social distance and the spread of coronavirus.” The Odisha government on Thursday decided to extend the lockdown period to 30 April to deal with the outbreak of COVID-19. They also decided to keep the educational institutions closed till 17 June. Odisha is the first state in the country to extend the lockdown period by 15 days.

The total number of coronavirus cases in India reached 6,725 on Friday. Of these, 5,863 are active cases, while 227 people have died and 635 people have been discharged after recovery. Maharashtra is the most affected state with 1,141 active cases, 125 people were cured and discharged. At the same time, 98 people have died so far.
