Corona Vaccine : America gives full approval to Remdesivir drug

New Delhi : The US has given full approval to the Remdesivir drug used in the treatment of Coronavirus epidemic. This approval has been given by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) of America. Remdesivir is the first such medicine, which has been approved by the health institutions to give to the infected patients admitted to the hospital. Till now it was used only for serious patients with infection.
The great thing is that the US has approved this medicine at a time when the World Health Organization (WHO) had questioned it five days ago. The interim results of the WHO Solidarity Trial were quoted as saying that the four drugs in connection with Corona had no effect on reducing mortality, streamlining respiration and hospitalization. In fact, Remdesivir, hydroxychloroquine, lopinavir / ritonavir and interferon were tested on 11 thousand 666 adults in 405 hospitals in 30 countries.
The purpose of the WHO test was to find out how effective the drugs currently available can be in the treatment of coronavirus infection. The results showed that the drugs used during the trial of Remdesivir, hydroxychloroquine, lopinavir/ritonavir and interferon had little or no effect on Covid-19 patients.
Remdesivir used to treat Ebola virus
The drug was developed by the American company Gilead a few years ago. It was then used to treat the Ebola virus that caused havoc in the African continent. In recent times, it has shown its effect on corona patients and in such a situation, its generic version has been launched in many countries. Some companies have also done this in India. At the same time, Zydus Cadila on August 12 launched the cheapest generic version of this drug in the country. Its price is Rs 2,800 per 100 mg.
