Cheteshwar Pujara saves India, smashes century in 231 balls, India inching towards 250

NP NEWS 24 ONLINE –  India did not have an ideal start to its 4 match test series versus Australia. India after winning the toss at Adelaide Oval, was reduced down to 4 wickets on just 41 runs both its captain and Vice-captain were sent in the dugout by the fire of Australian fast bowling. But in came the modern time’s wall of Indian cricket. Cheteshwar Pujara who slammed a century in 231 balls.

Both Indian openers played a loose shot and fall prey to Australian quicks who the removed the captain Virat Kohli who looked a bit over confident and Vice-captain Ajinkya Rahane. The commentator described the fall of wickets as the poor shot selection by the Indian top order. Australia came on the field with only 4 proper bowler but bad shot selection became the 5th bowler for Australia and India seems to be in trouble just after the first session.

Cheteshwar Pujara steps up the occasion and started rebuilding the inning with Rohit Sharma who also looked good but fell to the off-spin of Lion. Promising young batsman Rishabh Pant also could make the opportunity count. But then India’s spin allrounder came to the party and supported Pujara in his master class innings.

In the end, Pujara got run out on 123 in 246 balls. In which he smashed 7 boundaries and 2 sixes. His strike rate was of 50 and that reminded us of Rahul Dravid.

Now India is at the stage of 250 for 9 where Shami is batting and Bumrah is got to come to bat. In today’s game 87 years bowled and from Australia, all 4 bowlers took 2 wickets each.
