Breaking News | Rajdhani Express Accident : Goa-bound Rajdhani Express derails in tunnel

Goa : A major accident was averted in the Rajdhani Express going from Delhi to Goa on Saturday. This morning Rajdhani Express derailed (Rajdhani Express Accident) when it was passing through a tunnel near Ratnagiri Train Accident district of Maharashtra. As of now, there is no news of any casualty in this incident and all the passengers are completely safe.

An official said that this train was going from Hazrat Nizamuddin in Delhi to Margao in Goa. In the morning, when this train entered the Karbude tunnel near Ratnagiri, it derailed. According to the official, no passenger was hurt in the incident. This accident happened about 325 km away from Mumbai.

A spokesperson of Konkan Railway, which operates trains on this route, said that a large stone had fallen on the tracks, due to which the train derailed. A Rail Maintenance Vehicle (RMV) has reached the accident site, the official said. An Accident Relief Medical Van (ARMV) with equipment to bring the train back on track has been dispatched from Ratnagiri to the accident site. “The officials of Konkan Railway have also reached the spot to clear the line,” he said.

Konkan Railway is responsible for operating the 756 km long route between Roha near Mumbai (Maharashtra) and Thokur near Mangalore (Karnataka). This route is spread over three states – Maharashtra, Goa and Karnataka and the route covers many rivers, valleys and mountains, due to which it is one of the challenging areas of railways.
