BJP Slams Rahul Gandhi, Asks- ‘What did Congress Do to Help Fight Coronavirus?’

New Delhi : The Bharatiya Janata Party on Tuesday targeted Rahul Gandhi and said that the former Congress president should tell whether his party will fight the COVID-19 only by giving statements and spreading confusion. BJP said that Congress leaders should tell how many people of their party cared for poor and started food and ration campaign. BJP national spokesperson Shahnawaz Hussain said in his statement, “It is not right to make rhetoric just to remain in the discussion, but Rahul should play the role of responsible leader of the opposition.”

He said that when the Congress was in power, Rahul Gandhi did not talk to any economist and now what he is suggesting to Government by talking to Raghuram Rajan, Abhijeet Banerjee, there’s nothing news, Government already has these suggestions. Hussain said, “The government is fighting the coronavirus on one hand and on the other hand it is engaged in welfare work for the poor.” Taking a dig at Rahul, the BJP spokesperson said that ‘the things Rahul Gandhi is saying and the allegations he is making are not even said by the Chief Minister of Congress ruled states.’

He said that there is no conflict between the Center and the state in getting rid of COVID-19 and the Center and the state are working together as ‘Team India’ by taking the opinion of experts. Hussain questioned the Congress leader and said, “Will they fight the coronavirus just by making statements and just spreading confusion?” The BJP spokesman said that as a responsible leader of the opposition, Rahul should tell how many people he cared about, how many people were provided food, packets, dry ration? But, the former Congress president does not even say a line about it.

Shahnawaz Hussain said that the government is helping as many people as it can. Providing ration. The Center and the state are working together to reach people at their homes. Significantly, on Tuesday, Rahul Gandhi spoke to Nobel Laureate Abhijeet Banerjee, in which Banerjee has supported the Congress’ justice plan. However, he says that it should be confined only to the poor. Banerjee advocated a temporary ration card to tackle the problem of food distribution. Earlier, Rahul had interacted with former RBI Governor Raghuram Rajan.
