Bavdhan: No Vehicle Day organised by Citizens Forum on December 6

Pune: The Bavdhan Citizens Forum has organised No Vehicle Day on Sunday (December 6) to create awareness about vehicular pollution and conservation of environment.

The forum has started the initiative of No Vehicle Day on every first Sunday of the month. The first No Vehicle Day was celebrated by the forum in November month. The concept behind this initiative is to reduce the pollution as far as possible so that residents in the area get clean and fresh air to breathe.
The members of the forum are creating awareness about the initiative in the Bavdhan area. They will take out a cycle rally from Shinde Petrol Pump in Bavdhan to Ramnagar and will cover all internal roads and areas of Bavdhan. The cycle rally will start at 8am on Sunday.
Dushyant Bhatia, convenor of the Forum told media persons, “We have created a group Bavdhan Citizens on social networking site Facebook. We got a good response on the first attempt in November and we hope we will get a similar response on December 6 too.”
Deepa Prabhu, coordinator of the forum said, “We are not using cycles or we do not walk 10 metres distance for daily chores like purchasing vegetables etc. We wish to change this lifestyle habit of people through the no vehicle day initiative. Even if vehicle usage is avoided for a single day, we would reduce pollution significantly.”
About 60 citizens have registered themselves on the Facebook group for participation in the no vehicles day. The Forum has 100 housing societies affiliated to it. The Forum members are trying to reach a maximum number of Bavdhan citizens.
