The joy of this festival is celebrated with great pleasure even in foreign countries. On this day in India, people start their day by paying obeisance in temples and gurudwaras. People wear yellow clothes on these days. Hindus install and worship the idol of Goddess Saraswati. They offer yellow sweets such as sweet rice, laddu, boondi etc. Children celebrate this day by flying colorful kites on this day. Uttarkashi

In Uttarkashi, Uttarakhand, the festival of Basant Panchami is celebrated with great joy and celebration. People here use Palash wood, leaves and flowers etc. in the worship of Goddess Saraswati. People wear yellow clothes and do kirtan overnight and immerse the idol of Goddess in the holy rivers on the next day.
