To avoid any law and order issue when Muslims bring cattles for sacrifice during Bakr-Id (Id-ul-Zuha/ Eid al-Adha), Pune city police will set up 11 nakabandi check posts. In the past there has been fights as some right wing groups oppose bringing animals in vehicles.

The check posts will be set up at Warje, Katraj Bypass, Sadanand Hotel (Baner), Wakad naka, Nigdi jakatnaka, Moshi tollnaka, Dighi magazine chowk, Kharadi bypass chowk, Khadi machine chowk, Kavadi Pat toll plaza (Solapur road) and Mantarwadi phata (Saswad road).

According to police, Muslim community members buy cattles in large number from animal markets in Saswad, Chakan, Kamthadi, Yavat, Lonand, Baramati, Kashti and other places. Bakrid is expected to fall on August 22 and will continue for three days.

Therefore, police set up 24X7 check posts from August 7 to 24.
