Arrested PSI suspended for accepting bribe of ₹20,000

The suspended PSI has been identified as Shashikant Narayan Pawar.
PSI Shashikant Pawar was stationed at Sinhagad Road police station as probationary officer. An application had been sent to him for checking on December 26, 2022. After the application was checked, Pawar had demanded a bribe of ₹20,000 from the complainant. Since the complainant did not want to pay a bribe, he had lodged a complaint with Pune ACB. The ACB verified the complaint.
After it was confirmed that the PSI was seeking a bribe, the ACB registered an FIR against him at the Sinhagad Road police station. Meanwhile, on April 5, 2023, Pawar was arrested at 11.15 pm. When Pawar was produced in the court, it remanded him in police custody till April 10. Since Pawar has tarnished the image of the police department and misused his powers, he has been suspended.
