Alert in These States of India… Heavy Rain, Hailstorm Expected for Next Three Days

New Delhi : All regions of western North India may receive heavy rains with lightning, hail and thunderstorms from the evening of May 3 to the next three days. Strong winds (30–40 kmph) are expected. According to the Indian Meteorological Department, a cyclonic weather is likely to develop over West Rajasthan on the night of 3 May. Due to this, rains, thunderstorms, strong winds can blow at a speed of 40 to 50 km per hour in the entire Northwest region for the next three, four days. Also, there may be snowfall in the upper reaches of the Western Himalayas. Hence, an orange alert has been issued for most parts of northwest India between May 3 and 6.

According to the Regional Weather Forecast Center Delhi, ‘Western disturbance will intensify as low pressure area will form and moisture will be generated from Arabian Sea. In parts of Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand and Rajasthan – thunderstorms, dust storms and dusty winds can occur due to intense western disturbances.

Meanwhile, the first cyclonic storm of this season, Anfan is forming over the South Andaman sea. It is likely to remain in the same area during the next 48 hours. During the 48 hours, the storm will hit the Andaman Sea and adjoining southeastern Bay of Bengal and may intensify thereafter. It will gradually move north-northwestwards by 5 May, causing heavy rains and thunderstorms over the South Andaman Sea and the Bay of Bengal southeast and the Andaman-Nicobar Islands for the next five-plus days. The department has advised fishermen not to venture into the south-eastern Bay of Bengal in the South Andaman Sea on 1 May. It can reach the southeast Bay of Bengal on 2 and 3 May, and the Andaman Sea and the southeastern Bay of Bengal on 4 and 5 May.
