ACB sleuths arrests Deputy Tehsildar including two others for taking bribe

Pune: The sleuths of Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) nabbed three persons, including a lady deputy tehsildar and president of the Ration Shopkeepers’ Association while accepting a bribe of Rs 7,000.

The arrested accused have been identified as Parveen Umar Daraj Khan Pathan (47), Srirang Sadhu Dongre (64) and Vilas Gyanoba Pingale (55). A case is being registered at Kalamb police station in this regard.

Parveen is the Deputy Tehsildar (Supply) in the Tehsil Office of Kalamb Taluka. Srirang is the taluka president of the fair price grain shopkeepers’ association.

The complainants had distributed free grain during the lockdown. He gets a bill from the government at the rate of Rs. 150 per quintal each. Accordingly, the complainant was sanctioned a bill of Rs 44,623 for the last three months. The accused had demanded a bribe of Rs 6,693 from the complainant to take out the bill. The complainant then approached the ACB office and lodged a complaint against the accused.

After confirming the bribe demand, the ACB laid a trap and caught the accused red-handed while accepting the money.
