5 killed, 5 injured on Pune-Mumbai Expressway as container rammed their vehicles

Pune: At least five people were killed and five others injured when a container collided head-on with four to five vehicles on the Mumbai-Pune Expressway on Tuesday, the police said.

The container was going from Pune to Mumbai. The high-speed container hit the oncoming vehicles one after the other near Khopoli around midnight. Five such vehicles as Creta, Innova, trailer, truck and others have been involved in the accident.

The deceased have been identified as Manju Prakash Nahar (58), resident of Indrapuri, Goregaon West; Dr Vaibhav Vasant Jhunjhare (41), resident of Nerul, Navi Mumbai; Usha Vasant Jhunjhare (63), Vaishali Vaibhav Jhunjhare (38), Shriya Vaibhav Jhunjhare (5), RA / 1-3,4, officer colony, NMC, Sector 15, Nerul, Navi Mumbai.

Vaibhav Jhunjare was the Veterinary Officer of Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation. He was returning to Navi Mumbai from his village in his private car. He was accompanied by his parents, wife and children. In the accident, Dr Zunjare himself, his wife, mother and daughter died on the spot.

The injured have been identified as Swapnil Sonaji Kamble (30), resident of Flat No. 201, Indrapuri, Jawahar Nagar, SV Road, Goregaon (West), Prakash Hemraj Nahar (65), resident of Indrapuri, 602, Jawahar Nagar, SV). Road, Goregaon-West, Arnav Vaibhav Jhunjhare (11), resident of A / 1-3,4, officer colony, NMMC, Sector 15, Nerul, Navi Mumbai, Kishan Chaudhary, Kaluram Jamnaji Jat.

All the injured persons are undergoing treatment at Khopoli Municipal Hospital.
