300 Million Doses of Corona Vaccine Will Be Ready By December, 50% of It Will Be For India

Pune : Although the vaccine is underway all over the world to prevent the corona virus, all eyes are on the corona vaccine being developed by the University of Oxford. People have high hopes from this. If this vaccine is completely successful in eliminating the corona, then the company making it will provide 50 percent of the vaccine to India.

Serum Institute of India CEO Adar Poonawala informed this in an interview to the leading media after the first human test data for the corona vaccine being developed by Oxford University in Lancet was published. Poonawala said that by December we will be able to make 300 million doses of Oxford vaccine Covishield.

Adar Poonawala said that 50 percent of the vaccines produced by his firm will be supplied to India. Poonawala said that most of the vaccines will be purchased by the governments, after which people will be able to get them free of cost through vaccination programs.

The Serum Institute of India is one of the largest vaccine manufacturers in the world. This company has a partnership in the production of the vaccine being developed at Oxford University.

Adar Poonawala said that if the vaccine trial was successful and the results were favorable, then the Serum Institute of India would produce this vaccine with Oxford University.

He said that the firm is also seeking regulatory approval to conduct third stage human trials of the Oxford University vaccine in India to mass manufacture the vaccine if the results are favorable.

Poonawala said, we have said that we want to give half of our vaccine production to India and the other half to other countries on a rotation basis every month. The government is supporting. We need to understand that this is a global crisis. Poonawala said that people around the world need to be protected. It is important that we protect the whole world equally.

He said that if the tests and results come as planned, the Serum Institute of India will produce a few million doses of the vaccine by November-December.
