21 Kendriya Vidyalaya building declared unsafe by HRD ministry

NPnews24 Online, PUNE: More than 20 Kendriya Vidyalaya (KV) buildings across the country found to be partially or fully unsafe in an audit. HRD Ministry issue directives that school should not be run in them.

Identified buildings are decades old in Maharashtra (8), followed by Assam (3). Eight of buildings from Maharashtra were constructed in the 1960s.

Also other buildings identified each in Uttar Pradesh and Gujarat, and one each in Tripura, Meghalaya, Kerala, West Bengal, Madhya Pradesh and Sikkim. The Vidyalaya Sangathan runs over 260 KVs in the country in temporary premises provided by sponsors, with majority schools in Madhya Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir, followed by Bihar.
