2 children drown in canal, 1 saved

Two boys who had gone to wash clothes at a canal in Hadapsar allegedly died due to drowning on Sunday morning. The incident took place around 11 am in Vaidwadi locality of Hadapsar.

Police said that Sumit Shinde (13) of Vaidwadi, is the name of the missing child. Rahul Lokhande has been rescued successfully. Sumit and Rahul live in the same area. Both of them went to wash clothes at a canal in Vaidwadi.

Police officials said that after washing clothes, they landed in the canal to swim. Due to the rain the water level in the canal was high. However, they started drowning. Some passersby saved Lokhande while Sumit is missing.

Fire Brigade officials are searching for him.
