1993 Mumbai Serial blast convict Noor Mohammad dies

 MUMBAI: Noor Mohammad Khan, one of the culprits of the 1993 bomb blasts in Mumbai, died after prolonged illness at his residence in suburban Khar, a police official said on Monday.

The official said that Khan, a close aide of Tiger Memon, the main conspirator and mastermind of the blasts, died on Sunday. He was buried at the Santa Cruz cemetery on Monday morning.

Khan was sentenced to ten years in prison on November 24, 2006 by a special TADA court in connection with the blasts.

A builder by profession, Khan was convicted for keeping 58 bags of explosive RDX in his godowns. And later disposing them of in Nagla creek in Neighboring Thane.

Significantly, 257 people died in the 12 coordinated blasts ripped through Mumbai on 12 March 1993.
