105 sickles seized in Pune police’s raid on sickle sellers

In this background, in a major operation, Crime Branch Unit 1 of the Pune Police has seized at least 105 sickles from a sickle seller.

A team of Crime Branch Unit 1 carried out this operation on Monday at Budhwar Peth, Bohri Ali around 7.30 pm. Hussain Khojema Rajgara (32) from Undri has been arrested.

On Monday, the Pune Police conducted a combing operation to take preventive action against sickle gangs. Police constables Ajay Thorat and Nilesh Sable of Crime Branch Unit 1 got a tip-off that sickles are being sold illegally without a licence at Tahir Ali Chil shop in Bohri Ali. The team raided this shop around 7.30 pm and seized 105 sickles worth Rs 45,800. Accused Hussain Rajgara has been booked at the Faraskhana Police Station under the Arms Act and the Maharashtra Police Act.

The action was carried out by a team comprising Sr PI Sandeep Bhosale, API Ashish Kavathekar, PSI Sunil Kulkarni, Ajay Jadhav, Ramesh Tapkir, police constables Ajay Thorat, Nilesh Sable, Amol Pawar, Datta Sonwane, Rahul Makhare, Vitthal Salunkhe, Mahesh Bamgude, Shashikant Darekar under the guidance of CP Retesh Kumaarr, Joint CP Sandeep Karnik, Addl CP Ramnath Pokale, DCP Amol Zende and ACP Gajanan Tompe.
