Yemen weekend violence takes more than 150 lives

NP NEWS 24 ONLINE – Yemen is already facing starvation, recently a girl died of malnutrition whose condition was miserable since past few days. And in the midst of hunger problems, the violence and war situation in Yemen is continued.

The war has triggered around the key port city of Hodeida and in the whole weekend, over 150 people have died in the violence between Saudi Arab supporting groups and the rebels from Iran based groups called ‘Houthis’

According to Yemen officials, people from both the sides were involved in order to get control over the situation which has gone dreadfully in country’s most important port city Hodeida, in which many have lost their lives.

According to the Saudi supporter groups, they are claiming that they are just 4 kilometres away from capturing the city’s port. The soldier’s group has been able to reach nearest to the port in the battle which is going on for 3 years.

The government has backed troops and is launching a major ground assault to resist the attack of the rebels and in order to protect from devastation, airstrikes and naval artillery have been positioned around the Red Sea coastal city.

Notably, Hodeida city is called the Lifeline of Yemen. More than 90% import depends on the port of Yemen. The battle in Yemen is going on since 2015 when the Houthis protestors had captured the northern part of the country and the elected government was removed from its power.

The war going on since that period of time has taken many more than 10 thousand lives to date and above 1.4 crore people in Yemen are suffering from hunger and are on the verge of dying.

Reportedly since then, the U.S has sold billions of dollars’ worth of arms to Saudi Arabia and not only this it has provided logistic and other forms of support to the coalition.
