What is there in ‘Vault B’ of Padmanabhaswamy Temple?

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: After the Supreme Court verdict of giving administration of Padmanabhaswamy Temple to the royal family, now many have been questioning about opening ‘Vault B’ in the temple shrine.

One of the richest shrines in the world, Padmanabhaswamy Temple has 6 vaults denoted as Vault A, B, C, D, E, and F. The vaults were opened after orders from the Supreme Court after it gave its verdict on hearing of a private petition seeking transparency.

So far, 5 out of 6 vaults (underground chambers), which stores Padmanabha Swamy temple treasures have been opened by June 27, 2011, except vault B.

What are vaults?

 

There are vaults also known as underground chambers in the temple, which has a collection of valuables objects such as gold thrones, crowns, coins, statues, ornaments, diamonds, and other precious stones.

In chamber A to B, there is an exotic gold treasure, chamber C to D consist of gold and silver jewelry, while in chamber E and F have utensils used for temple rituals.

Vault A of the temple was opened in June 2011 and found a treasure worth of Rs 1 lakh crore, but Vault B has not opened yet.

Supreme Court has not given any directive on opening Vault B, meanwhile, it has left to the administrative committee to take a call regarding it.
