We will give the reservation that will last forever, violence is not solution – CM Devendra Fadnavis

The social work and foresight of Rajaram Maharaj has to be admired. We should try and take forward the thoughts of Shahu, Phule and Ambedkar, said CM Devendra Fadnavis. He was speaking in launch event of Marathi book named ‘Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharajanche Vichar’.

At this event, speaking on Maratha Reservation Chief Minister said, “Shahu Maharaj was the first one to give reservation to Maratha Community, but after India got the Independence, it got ruled out. Our government has raised the issue of Maratha Reservation. For the same, we have gone to High Court and Supreme Court. We also had meetings with the expert in this case. We have submitted the report to Backward Class Commission. The report will be scrutinized. Considered sections and unconsidered sections report will be submitted. Law procedure will take some time. We have requested the commission to give report as early as possible. Once the report is out then, we will call a session in assembly.”

“People are asking for reservation by passing an ordinance, but that will not even last for a day. To give Maratha Reservation we need to follow law procedure and state government will do it for sure.” said Fadnavis.

While remembering the social work of Rajaram Maharaj Fadnavis said, “Rajamram Maharaj created the opportunity of employment. He established Shahu Mill in Kolhapur. The then, it costed more than Rs 6.20 lakh. In the same way the Airport at Kolhapur was the foresight of Rajaram Maharaj. Shahu Maharaj had created the base of sustainable development in agriculture, irrigation and education but Rajaram Maharaj took forward the same legacy and we too need to do the same.”

Talking about the much-talked Statue of Shivaji Maharaj he said, “It will be one of the biggest statute in the world. This statue is our responsibility. The statue will be built in Arabian Sea, so we need consider tides and wind speed. The statue will be 40 percent Pivot and 60 percent Statue. So, the height of the statue will not change, I promise you that.”
