In a shocking incident, a 16-year-old girl from Pune based Autism School has been not taken proper care as well as manhandled.

The incident had come to light, after the girl was critical and rushed to Sassoon General Hospital for the treatment. The girl undergoing a treatment at Intensive Care Unit (ICU).

Children living in mentally retarded school in Dhankawadi Area of Pune are in very bad condition.

According to the allegations that have ahead, on petty issues they are been manhandled, abuse or beaten. Apart from it, they are not even getting food on time.

This incident is been taken place ‘Aksharsparsh Nivasi Matimand Vidyalaya’ is the school for mentally challenged children whose parents are not financially capable of their upbringing. It is justified that the institution must be getting good donation, but the care of children has not been taken.

Our reporter reached here to investigate the allegations being put on the organization, she found it very much right. Not only this, it also came out that the goods given for children are distributed among the employees of the organization. Talking to the Social Welfare Department about this, it was found that the said institution is not recognized by the government.

This girl was enrolled a month and a half ago in ‘ Aksharsparsh Nivasi Matimand Vidyalaya (Workshop)’. When family members came to meet her, they were stunned to see that the situation of the child had become even worse. After this, she had to be admitted to Sassoon Hospital for treatment.

The child is currently battling for life. The victim’s family has claimed that her body has deep marks of assault and she has not been given medicine for a month.

The girl is suffering from seizures and her health has become worse due to lack of medication on time.

The institution is claiming to provide a good environment for the children, but it cannot be said at all by seeing the view of the school premises. At the time when sanitation campaign is going on in all over the country, the school premises is leaking out of dirt. The situation is such that you can get dizzy and fall. Here the children’s accommodation is arranged in two rooms.

The parent of the victim shared that just a couple of month back, we had got the admission in the school, no receipt was given to us. Here, children are given extremely poor quality food. Not only this, if the school gets donation of food or anything for children, that also they keep for their use. Children are forced to sit on the ground. Children are beaten up if they makes any mess.

It seem the Police and Sassoon administration are remain deaf hear. When the victim’s family tried to file a complaint against the institution in Sahakarnagar police station, the police avoided saying that when the hospital or the social welfare department does not issue any letter, we cannot take action.

While the hospital says that till police do not come to inquire about it, we cannot provide medical reports. At the same time, the Social Welfare Department says that police can register a case of assault.

However, the Department of Social Welfare has ordered the inquiry against the institution. But the kind of attitude that has been done so far has raised the question that whether the investigation will be done fairly?
