Violent Incidents Shake Pune: Young Man Stabbed, Tempo Driver Assaulted

Pune: Pune witnessed two disturbing incidents of violence over the weekend, leaving residents shocked and concerned about the safety of their neighbourhoods.

In the first incident, which occurred late Sunday night around 11:30 p.m. on Apte Road, a young man was viciously attacked by two unidentified assailants.

Shashank Dilip Shirole, a 31-year-old resident of Kamal Niwas, Apte Road, was standing near the gate of his house when the assailants approached him under the guise of asking for an address. Without provocation, they sprayed red chilli powder on his face and brutally stabbed him in the neck with a sharp weapon.

The severity of the attack left Shirole seriously injured. A complaint has been lodged at Deccan Police Station, and a case has been registered against the perpetrators under IPC 324, 34. Police Sub-Inspector Sawant is leading the investigation into this shocking incident.

Meanwhile, in another disturbing incident on Sus Road in Pashan, a tempo driver fell victim to a brutal assault on Sunday evening between 5 and 7 PM. Vijay Sukhdev Lohkare, a 30-year-old resident of Sus village, Pune, reported to Chaturshringi police station that he was attacked by four individuals, including Rajesh Rathod, a resident of Pashan.

According to Lohkare’s account, he had stopped in front of a bakery on Sus Road when the assailants, known to him, approached him. They proceeded to shatter the front glass of the tempo before launching a violent assault. Lohkare was struck on the hand and shoulder with a sharp iron weapon, causing him serious injuries, while his friends were beaten with wooden bamboo. The assailants fled the scene before the police arrived, prompting an ongoing investigation into the incident.
