Violent clash between two groups near Assam-Mizoram border, many injured, miscreants set fire to houses

New Delhi : There were violent clashes between the two groups of Assam and Mizoram states on the borders of both the states, in which several people were reported injured. After the violence, there is a situation of tension on the border.

However, after the violent clashes, the police and administration claimed that the situation is under control at present and that security personnel have been deployed in border areas under Kachahar district of Assam and Kolasib district of Mizoram.

Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal on Sunday informed the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) and the Union Home Ministry (MHA) about the current situation on the Assam-Mizoram border.

Miscreants set fire to many homes
According to reports, a violent clash broke out between two groups of Assam and Mizoram on Saturday evening in Lailpur area of Assam’s Kachahar district, in which several people were injured. After the clash, miscreants set fire to several houses near the Lyallpur area along the interstate border.

On the other hand, Assam forest minister Parimal Sukhabaidya visited Lailpur region on Sunday and appealed to the locals to maintain peace.

Chief Minister Sonowal also called his counterpart Joram Thanga in Mizoram and talked to him about the incident on the border. During the talks, Chief Minister Sonowal emphasized joint efforts to resolve issues related to the border. He also advocated working with cooperation to resolve the border dispute and maintain peace and law and order on the inter-state border.

Sonowal said that there is rapid development going on in the Northeast under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. However, to maintain this pace, there is a need to maintain peace and enhance relations between states. He said that there can be differences but all differences should be resolved through dialogue.

Meanwhile, Mizoram CM Joram Thanga assured Chief Minister Sonowal to maintain peace and work with cooperation on the inter-state border
