Two minor girls marry each other in Jharkhand’s Dhanbad

Two minor girls from Jharkhand’s Dhanbad married at a nearby temple and decided to live together, leaving their family dejected. Bothe minors identified as Pooja are aged 14 and 13 respectively.

The two girls, who are residents of Sugiadih in Saraidhela police station area of Dhanbad, said they are deeply in love since childhood and wanted to get married.

Attired in a shirt and trouser, the older Pooja said she is the “husband” of her younger namesake, who has agreed to be the “wife” in the relationship.

Both the girls confessed their love adding that they cannot live without each other. They started living in a hut nearby but the two girls were forced to return home after their friends failed to provide any help. As soon as the family members got to know, they rushed to Saraidhela police station and sought help.

 The police quickly came to a conclusion and decided to hand over custody of the girls to their respective families. The decision was taken since they were an underage couple.

The girls are adamant about living together and said, “We will live together once we are grown-ups and attain the age of marriage.”
