Two Arrested In Possession Of Red Sand Boa Snake Worth Rs 22 Lakh 

Pune: Tracking smuggling case of Red Sand Boa snake (non-venomous) the pune city crime branch has arrested two persons. The arrested accused named Chandrakant Kashinath Deshmukh (50) of Ahmednagar and Mahesh Bhimaji Thorat (29) of Purandar.
DCP (Crime) Bachchan Singh had received information about the duo following which a trap was laid on Wednesday near the Jail Road Press Colony in Yerwada and the accused were arrested by Crime Branch Unit 2. The recovered snake was 44-inch-long Red Sand Boa snake, weighing about 3 kg. The estimated cost of the snake is Rs 22 lakh, said police.
FIR has been registered against the accused persons at Yerwada police station. The snake was handed over to the Rajiv Gandhi Zoological Park, Katraj.
