Two American fighter planes collide; 6 soldiers go missing

NP NEWS 24 ONLINE- Far off from west coast, American navy’s two fighter planes collided with each other and crashed into sea and 6 American soldiers are missing after this accident.

The team of soldiers deployed in Japan gave this information on Thursday.

According to the reports of American Marine Corps base camp, a team of seven soldiers who were in the planes, encountered with this tragic situation out which one has been rescued, whereas search operation for the rest six is still on. Japanese minister had deployed nine aircrafts and three vessels for the search operation.

Marines said, “We are thankful for the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force’s efforts as they immediately responded in the search and rescue operation”.

According to reports, FA-18 fighter plane and KC-130 refuelling tanker planes collided with each other on 6 December midnight at 2 pm. The two planes had taken off from Iwakuni airport.

During the time of accident, the planes took part as per their usual training routine.

American rescue authority said that the accident took place 200 miles far off from Iwakuni airport in Japan. There were a total of five naval soldiers in KC-130 and two soldiers in AF-18 present in the planes respectively.

The defence minister of Japan, Takeshi Iwaya said, the soldier who was rescued from AF-18 plane is in a stable health condition now. He said that Japan has lot many times sent their planes to help in rescue operations and provide relief.

“US military and the Japanese Self-Defense planes and vessels are searching for those still missing… I hope all the members will be rescued safely as soon as possible,” Iwaya added
