Trump Warns of Retaliation if Modi Doesn’t Allow Hydroxychloroquine Export

Washington : America, the world’s most powerful country, is currently suffering from the havoc of the Coronavirus. The US President, in a phone conversation with Prime Minister Narendra Modi last Sunday, demanded the lifting of the ban on the export of hydroxychloroquine, a drug used to treat malaria. Now Trump has indicated that if India does not lift the ban on the export of this drug, the US can also retaliate.

Hydroxychloroquine, an effective malaria drug, is being used to treat corona virus-infected patients. Earlier, Trump had approached Prime Minister Narendra Modi for this drug. Trump said in a press briefing, ‘I spoke to him (Prime Minister Narendra Modi) on Sunday morning, and I said that we appreciate that you are letting our supply (hydroxychloroquine) come, but if he stops it, even then it does not matter, but of course we can retaliate after this. Why shouldn’t it be like this? ‘

At the White House press briefing, Trump said that India has behaved very well with the US. He said that there is no reason to understand that why India would not lift the ban on American drug orders. Trump said, ‘I didn’t hear anywhere that it was his (PM Modi’s) decision. I know that they have banned this drug for export to other countries. I talked to him yesterday. We had a very good conversation. India has behaved very well with America. ‘
