Third Trial of Corona Vaccine Can Be Dropped, Top Scientist of ICMR Gives Hints



New Delhi : Many countries are struggling for the Coronavirus vaccine, which has become a global epidemic. In India too, two companies have prepared the Corona vaccine. On Thursday, the Ministry of Health said that the trial of the vaccine on animals has been completed, although its human trial has not started yet. Rajesh Bhushan, Special Work Officer (OSD), Ministry of Health said that we hope that its human trial will also start soon.

Bharat Biotech and Cadila Healthcare have developed the corona vaccine. It is being said that this vaccine will be tested in three phases. When asked about the vaccine, Dr. Nivedita Gupta, the top scientist of ICMR, said that the third phase of testing of the corona vaccine depends on what the results of the first and second phase came. Dr. Nivedita also said that the third phase of the vaccine test cannot be ruled out, but it will depend on the results of the first two steps.

On Thursday, OSD of the Ministry of Health, Rajesh Bhushan said, ‘Both these vaccines have completed animal toxicities studies. These studies are on rats, guinea pig and rabbit. The data of both these studies have been shared with the Drugs Controller General of India (DCGI). Only after this both these are allowed for clinical trials of phase one. Where the trial of Phase-1 and Phase-2 will be done has also been decided.’

Covaxin of Bharat Biotech and Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) has received approval from the Drug Controller General of India for Phase 1 and Phase 2 trials. In the first phase of the vaccine trial, 375 people will be tried, while in the second phase, this vaccine will be tested on 750 people. The company has fixed July 13 for the final enrollment. Zydus Cadila’s vaccine has also received human clinical trial approval.
