The remaining amount of water tax reached up to Rs. 152 crores

The Irrigation department claims that the Municipal corporation used the excessive amount of water and used extra water with commercial rates. Also Irrigation department had claimed that Rs. 354 crores amount is unpaid by the Municipal Corporation.

The Irrigation Engineer demanded the bill for this amount from municipal corporation. Then the  Municipal Corporation had appealed to the settlement officers regarding this matter. In the hearing of this appeal, the unpaid amount has been reduced from Rs 354 crores to Rs 152 crores.

Municipal administration takes 13 to 14 Thousand Million Cubic (TMC) amount of water every year from Khadakwasla dam. Irrigation department had sent a bill of Rs. 354 crores, 76 lakhs as a water tax. But Municipal corporation refused from time to time,  to pay it and said that, It is the very big amount and Irrigation department demanding extra amount.

Then, there was the dispute between the irrigation department and municipal corporation about this matter. Finally, municipal corporation appealed towards the chief engineer of water in the distribution department.  After listening to both the sides of Irrigation department and municipal corporation, gave its decision recently and the instructed to the municipal corporation to pay the remaining amount (152 crores) within 30 days.

The municipal corporation has already claimed that this amount is 48 cores only, and the corporation is ready to pay this. According to the municipal corporation, it has paid Rs. 18 crore rupees to the Water Resources department four months ago.

One more Appeal:

The Deputy Superintendent engineer of irrigation department of Pune- Thakur gives the 30 days period for paying the remaining amount of Rs. 152 crores, 10 lakhs. The municipal corporation gets a sigh of relief because of this. But still according to the municipal corporation, the unpaid amount is less than 152 crores and they will make one more appeal for that.

Municipal corporation demands are approved:

Do not include the commercial purpose water usage in percentage, it should add into 99.22 MLD data.

Before June month of every year, The corporation should certify the statistics of industrial water usage and according to that, the executive engineers should charge bill after checking.
