Sharad Pawar’s tongue might have inadvertently slipped: BJP leader Ram Shinde

Ahmednagar: BJP leader Ram Shinde attacked NCP Chief Sharad Pawar for his statement made during a ceremony to unveil the statue of Ahilya Devi Holkar at Jejuri in Maharashtra.

Shinde said, “Sharad Pawar is a leader who has completed 50 years in politics and democracy. I think the sentences that came out of his mouth may have been inadvertently slipped. But comparing Ahilya Devi like this is a serious mistake and it is an insult to her”.

“Saying that Punyashlok Ahilyabai Holkar was born in her grandson’s (Rohit Pawar’s) constituency, Sharad Pawar has indirectly indicated that his grandson’s constituency is superior to Ahilya Devi’s. It is an insult to Ahilya Devi to say that. I will say that Sharad Pawar’s tongue has slipped,” Shinde added.

The debate that has been ignited by the unveiling of the statue of Ahilya Devi Holkar at Jejuri town has intensified. BJP leader Ram Shinde has taken aim at the statement made by Sharad Pawar during the unveiling of the statue.

Maharashtra BJP MLC Gopichand Padalkar claimed to have unveiled a full-sized statue of Punyashlok Ahilya Devi Holkar at the Jejuri fort, a day before the scheduled ceremony for unveiling the statue by Nationalist Congress Party President Sharad Pawar.

Padalkar – a detractor of Pawar – objected to unveiling of the statue at the hands of NCP patriarch.
