Shah Rukh’s donates 50 wheelchairs for a social cause

Mumbai: NP NEWS 24 ONLINE – Shah Rukh Khan recently attended the send-off hosted by the Paralympic Committee to the India contingent taking part in the Asian Para Games 2018, extended support to the para-athletes on the occasion International Day for the Disabled person by donation 50 wheelchairs.

Shah Rukh’s NGO, Meer Foundation, has been working very closely with Deepa Malik and her foundation ‘Wheeling Happiness’ which is an initiative to smoothen the journey of athletes as they take the field.

“We all are incomplete in some or the other way, and we need to embrace our imperfection and achieve our goals. Deepa is not just an inspiration but a reflection of ourselves and it has been a privilege knowing and associating with her,” Shah Rukh said.

Deepa Malik is the first women who won a silver medal in shot put in 2016 at Paralympic Games. She believes it’s a gracious step taken by Shah Rukh as it not only felicitates the athletes but also motivates and boosts their confidence.

Shah Rukh’s upcoming movie ‘Zero’ also showcases Anushka on a wheelchair which could be one way of promoting a movie with a social cause.

Shah Rukh has been pretty secretive about his social causes when it comes in front of the media but he has been actively contributing in various social events. His own organisation provides support for acid attack survivors and those who have sustained major burn injuries by helping them with medical treatments, giving legal support wherever needed, vocational training, rehabilitation and livelihood support.

Previously he has also donated  25 crores towards ‘Social and Rural development’ during in 2014, 1crore during Chennai floods, a sum of 2.5 million Indian rupees to PM Manmohan Singh for Tsunami Relief camp as well as he is very closely involved with Make a Wish Foundation.
