Pune: Schools in Pune | The state government under the Right to Education (RTE) Act reimburses the tuition fees of students admitted to 25 percent seats in private schools. But, the state government has sanctioned only Rs 40 crore for fee reimbursement for the two financial years that is 2022-23 and 2023-24. Now the private schools will have to wait for some more time for the previous outstanding fee reimbursement.

It has been noticed that the private schools frequently complain about non-reimbursement of education fees of students admitted under RTE. Several representations were also made to get the due amount. This year, the schools had taken a stance that if the outstanding fees were not reimbursed, the students would not be admitted. Against this backdrop, a budgetary provision of Rs.200 crore has been made for reimbursement of RTE fee in the year 2023-24. The school education department released the government decision sanctioning Rs. 200 crore.

The Director of Education (Primary) shall disburse the funds in proportion to the reasonable demand made by the districts. The disbursed funds should be utilized only for reimbursement of education fees for the year 2022-23 and 2023-24. It has been mentioned in the government decision that funds will be provided separately to reimburse the previous pending education fees.
