Saudi Arabia to make COVID-19 vaccine free for citizens and residents

To stop the transmission of COVID-19 in Saudi Arabia, the Ministry of Health has announced to provide free vaccines to 70% of its citizens. According to the Arab news report, it is believed that the entire population of Saudi Arabia will be vaccinated by the end of 2021.

Saudi Arabia’s assistant undersecretary at the ministry Dr. Abdulla Asiri said “those who have not tested positive for COVID-19 will be given priority in the vaccine campaign in the coming months; however he also added that those below 16 years of age will not be vaccinated unless research proves they need to be vaccinated.
There will be 2 ways of providing vaccination to all
He said that Saudi Arabia is following two methods to provide vaccines to all citizens. The first would be through COVAX organization, which the G20 has a role in creating and financing.  A larger number of the vaccine will be obtained through this facility, while the second method is directly contracting with the big companies to cover the gap that cannot be covered through COVAX.
