RSS Chief Bhagwat visits actor Mithun Chakroborty at his Mumbai residence ahead of Bengal polls

Mumbai: RSS Chief Mohan Bhagwat visited actor Mithun Chakraborty at his Mumbai residence on Tuesday. Mohan Bhagwat was at Mithun’s bungalow in Madh area of Mumbai early morning.

The meeting was held ahead of the upcoming assembly elections in West Bengal. Mithun Chakraborty, a Bengali actor, is a popular star with a massive fan following.

Earlier in 2019, Mithun Chakroborty had paid ‘courtesy visit’ to the RSS Chief at the RSS headquarters in Nagpur and then visited the Hedgewar memorial. He was accompanied by Prasad Mahankar, Vidarbha Pracharak of the organisation.

Mithun, a former Trinamool Congress Rajya Sabha member, was once associated with the Maoist movement in Bengal. Later, he was known to be close to CPM and particularly with senior leader and former sports minister late Subhash Chakraborty. He was elected in 2014 and later resigned in two years citing health issues.

In 2013, the national award-winning film actor was awarded Banga Bibhusan — the highest civilian award instituted by the Mamata Banerjee government.
