Robbers kill an elderly man, assault his wife

A 65-year-old man was killed while his wife sustained severe injuries when three robbers attacked them inside their house. The incident took place around 1.30 am in Gadadevasti in Dongargaon, Haveli Taluka, under Lonikand police station.

The robbers had lotted ornaments worth Rs 60,000 from the couple. The deceased has been identified as Kerba Bhiwa Gadade. His wife Muktabai has sustained head injuries and currently undergoing treatment at Sassoon hospital.

According to police, the three robbers broke into the house where Gadade and his wife were sleeping. They attacked him with axe on the head and he died on the spot. They robbed his wife’s nose ring and chain worth Rs 60,000. Their daughter-in-law Nirmala Ashok Gadade (30) who was sleeping in the adjoining raised an alarm following which the robbers fled.

After getting information police officials reached the spot. Pune rural Superintendent of Police (SP) Sandip Patil also visited the spot and further investigating is going on.

Based on the complaint from Nirmala, an FIR has been registered against the unidentified robbers.
