Vehicles traveling from Mahatre Bridge, Mehandale Garage, and Nisarg Hotel will not be allowed to turn right into Padale Palace chowk from Monday onwards. Thus, these vehicles will need to take U-turn from Nalstop chowk and then they can go to Deccan, Central Mall, Garware College or Navi Peth. This is done on an experimental basis to stop traffic congestion on Karve Road.

Pune has been witnessing continuous showers of rain since past few months. Since past few weeks, heavy pressure of water on the walls of dams due to rainfall has made the administration open the gates of dams to release water to rivers.

On Friday, 9416 cusecs of water were released from Khadkwasla dam to Mutha River. Not only this, the rains are affecting the construction of metro stations too. Cusecs of water is being released from Khadkwasla dam every now and then and other dams too. Some amount of water is being released to the Mutha River every day. 5136 cusecs of water have been released on Saturday around 10 am.

Continuous release of water from Khadkwasla Dam has overflowed Mutta river thus the traffic on Rajput Slums to Deccan riverside roads has been stopped. Adding in the trouble, there is work of metro going on the Karve Road, which makes it even more difficult for traffic police to manage traffic. This is making traffic jam on the road from Mahatre Bridge, Mehandale Garage, and Nisarg Hotel to Nalstop.

On this background, the municipal corporation and Pune Traffic Police has taken the decision to change the traffic in the area from Monday. The plan was made under the Assistant Commissioner Prabhakar Dhamale, Corporater Manjushri Khardekar, Madhuri Shastrabudhe, Dipak Pote, Jayant Bhave, Police Inspector Pratibha Joshi, Corporation road Department’s Mukund Shinde, Rajesh Ftale, BJP’s Pune vice president Sandip Khardekar.
