Richa Chadha files defamation case against Payal Ghosh, Bombay HC reserves petition till October 7
Mumbai: Richa Chadha filed a petition in the Bombay High Court claiming defamation of 1.1 crore from actress Payal Ghosh. Richa Chadha sought a legal action against Payal Ghosh dragging her name in accusing Anurag Kashyap of sexual harassment. The Bombay high court has reserved the petition till October 7 as notice was not sent to the respondents.
A single judge bench of Justice Anil K Menon was hearing Chadha’s application — filed through senior counsel Veerendra Tulzapurkar and advocate Saveena Bedi Sachar — which also sought monetary compensation from the actor.
Payal Ghosh has alleged the sexual harassment charges on Anurag Kashyap. In a statement she has accused Director Kashyap of misbehavior with her. Ghosh claimed, “She was called at kashyap place and asked for sexual favours in return of a role in his movie which made her uncomfortable”. Ghosh also mentioned the names of actresses such as Richa Chadha, Huma Qureshi and Mahi Gill for facing similar action. However, Richa Chadha resorted to legal action after her name was dragged in the controversy.

Earlier in her legal notice, Richa wrote that ‘I want justice for every woman but that doesn’t mean that a woman can abuse her own freedom to make baseless and false allegations against other women.

Anurag Kashyap responded by tweeting on Payal’s sexual exploitation. He wrote, “kya baat hai , itana samay le liya mujhe chup karavaane kee koshish mein . chalo koi nahi .mujhe chup karaate karaate itana jhooth bol gae kee aurat hote hue dusare auraton ko bhi sang ghaset liya. thode to maryada rakhe madam bas yahe”. (What’s the matter, it took you so long to silence me. You lied so much that being a woman, you also dragged other women along. Be modest, ma’am. Just say that all your allegations are baseless.)
Kashyap has denied all allegations; however, Payal claimed the filmmaker lied before the police. The actress has also demanded narco analysis, lie detector and polygraph test be performed on the filmmaker.
