Religious guru booked for impregnating a minor

NPnews24 online – A disgusting series of events have occurred in Rajasthan where police in Ajmer concluded that a girl who was sexually abused and allegedly impregnated by a religious leader was ‘possessed by evil spirits’.

The matter came to light only after a Kishangarh-based NGO decided to file a complaint against local cops for their mistaken investigation into the matter.

Raksha Sharma, an advocate who runs NGO Sakhi Saheli told that he possesses a sonography report of the minor girl which confirms that she is indeed pregnant. Sharma also claims that the girl and her family are being pressurised to abort the child by the religious leader and his followers.

The doctor who performed the girl’s sonography are ready to testify in court and and also have warned the parents that abortion might pose a danger to the girl’s life.

Acting on the complaint, the superintendent of police (SP) assigned police protection to the minor and deputed Station House Officer (SHO) Gagel Suman to probe the allegations. In its report, Gagel’s team have come to a conclusion that the minor girl is not pregnant, adding that she is ‘possessed by evil spirits’.

Going by inputs accrued by advocate Raksha Sharma and her NGO Sakhi Saheli, the girl was being tutored by the religious guru who allegedly traumatised and raped her for several months. Afraid of being ostracised by their community, the girl’s parents are ready to sacrifice their daughter, added Sharma who has decided to move the high court over this case.

Responding to reports, SHO Gagel Suman said that statements of the girl and her parents have been recorded and submitted to the SP of Ajmer. However, the police officer made no mention about the allegations levelled against their handling of the issue.

Previously, A 23-year-old woman, who claimed religious guru Ganeshananda had sexually abused her for years, reportedly hacked off his penis in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala in March 2018. Whereas, 77-year-old, Asharam has sentenced to life for raping a girl in 2013.
