Rakesh Asthana Appointed As Director General Of Border Security Force

New Delhi: Rakesh Asthana, an Indian Police Service officer of the 1984 batch of Gujarat cadre who served as the Special Director at the Central Bureau of Investigation, today took over as border security force (BSF) Director General. He has been appointed as 27th border security force (BSF) Director General by the central government. He also served as director general of the Civil Aviation Security Bureau. Along with this responsibility he is also temporary in charge of the Narcotics Control Bureau. He will serve till 31st July 2021 as his retirement date is the same.

Rakesh Asthana has been in lots of controversies. In 2018 there has been a controversy regarding corruption both on interim director Alok Verma and Director General Rakesh Asthana, the FIR was also filed. They were dismissed from the position for the same.

Alok Verma was also transferred. As per media reports, the case was filed by Alok Verma itself. After his transfer he was appointed as Director of fire department, however he never took charge.

The court gave a clean chit to Rakesh Asthana and Deputy Police Superintendent (DSP) Devendra Kumar after accepting a report on the matter from the investigation agency. The report stated that there was not enough evidence to prove them guilty.
