Railways : Lower Fares for AC 3-Tier Travel on Mumbai, Kolkata routes from Delhi

New Delhi : Passengers will now be able to travel in air-conditioned coaches at low travel fare. Keeping in mind the convenience of the passengers, a new type of air-conditioned class (AC-3) coach has been designed. This coach will have more seats. That is, more than 72 berths will be in the prototype coach of this new design. The special thing is that the fare for traveling in this coach will also be less.

The newly designed coaches will also be able to run at a speed of 160 kilometers per hour. This coach will be run by connecting trains between Delhi-Kolkata and Delhi-Mumbai. Railway Board CEO Vinod Kumar Yadav said that the proto-type coach has been prepared and is being trialed. The trains with such coaches will start running next year.

Yadav clearly stated that sleeper coaches will not be removed from the railway tracks due to arrival of new coaches or increasing the speed of trains. In addition, the fare for the new AC-3 coach will be between the sleeper class and the fare of the currently running AC-3 coach. This type of Garib Rath train was also run, which was later being gradually removed from the track.

Train speed has been increased between Delhi-Mumbai, Delhi-Kolkata. Now trains are running at a speed of 130 km per hour instead of 110 on this track.

Yadav said that preparations have been started to increase the speed up to 160 kmph in the second phase. He informed that the sleeper coach may have problems due to the strong wind due to increase in the speed of the trains. A new AC coach has been prepared for this.

Railways have announced a Goods Shed Policy to boost trade. Under this, a goods warehouse will also be built near small stations. It will be developed under PPP. Any private company can build such a warehouse.

Such a decision has been taken keeping in mind the need of parcels at the small station. Whatever company gives more share of the earnings to the Railways, only those will be allowed. That is, the most tender will be included in this scheme. Railways have also started a business portal to promote freight. A total of 6150 parcel trains ran during Covid. This resulted in a profit of Rs 169 crore.

The CEO of the Railway Board said that those who have passed the railway examination will be given training facilities soon.

In Unlock-5, the train is back on track. A total of 1100 hundred special trains’ operation will be resumed in this festive season. Of these, 682 special trains are running. In view of the festivals, 416 trains will start running from next week to November.
