Pune: Warkari school owner held for sexual abuse of three minors

Pune: An owner of an Alandi-based renowned Warkari school has been arrested for sexually abusing three minor boys from the institution.

The Alandi Police have booked and arrested Dasopant alias Swami Haribhau Undalkar-Alandikar (52) under the Protection of Children against Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. The accused was sexually abusing the children for the past 15 days. There was outrage in Alandi following the revelation of the incident.

According to the police, the warkari school concerned is an old institute and was registered recently. It is known for producing good Mrudang (a percussion instrument) players. Meanwhile, the police have arrested the so-called maharaj, the owner of the school. He has undergone a medical examination.

As many as 70 children study in the warkari school. Out of these children, the accused used to call three children and sexually abused them for the past 15 days. The victims narrated the incident to their parents. Thus, it was exposed. People from the temple town expressed strong anger over the incident. They demanded strict action against the accused after conduction a thorough inquiry.
