Pune rural police LCB nabs two thieves with Mercedes car

Lonavala, Pune – The sleuths from the local crime branch (LCB) of Pune rural police have nabbed two thieves and have seized cash and Mercedes car from their possession.

The arrested accused have been identified as Mohammad Irfan Akhtar Shaikh (29) and Mohammad Maruf Matiur Ali (25), both natives of Sitamarhi district in Bihar.

According to police, there was a burglary at Kati Patang bungalow in Raywood under Lonavala town police station. The thieves had decamped with cash and valuables including Montblanc’s pen, totally worth Rs 6.5 lakhs on November 1 this year. While investigating this case, sleuths had got CCTV footages of the thieves and with the help of technical analysis, they reached the accused who were in Mercedes car (Haryana registration number) at Tiger Point in Lonavala.

Police said that various equipment used in the burglary were seized from the duo along with Rs 8800 cash. As the car was also used in the crime, it has been seized.

The LCB officials said that there are seven house break-in cases against accused Shaikh in Delhi. The accused persons used to stay in a hotel in Mumbai and then committed thefts in nearby areas. They have been handed over to Lonavala town police station for further investigation.
