Pune: Resident Deputy Collector Imposes Early Closure of Bars in Response to Escalating Incidents

Pune: Resident Deputy Collector, Jyoti Kadam, has issued an order to close all the bars and permit rooms in the district at 12.30 a.m. amidst increasing unsettling incidences in the district. Recently, many instances of chaos and altercations at bars, permit rooms, and restaurants have come to light. Similarly, it has come to the attention that many owners of bars and restaurants are openly flouting the rules and directions of the government.

In continuation of the earlier order, it is also instructed not to give alcohol to any person who is under the age of 25. Recently, Pune Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar issued an order to keep pubs and hotels in the city open until 1.30 p.m. Therefore, many tipplers started visiting village-side hookah parlours, pubs, and bars in the suburbs.

Therefore, a major law and order situation problem has arisen in the Pune district. Amidst all this background, the Resident Deputy Collector issued a detailed public order aiming to control this increasing menace.

What exactly is mentioned in the order:

  • Do not take orders for food and liquor after midnight.
  • Close all bars and permit rooms in rural areas completely at 12:30 p.m.
  • CCTV cameras should be installed in the hotel entrance and exit, at the customer seating area, the bar counter, etc.
  • 15 minutes time to close the shops (buffer timing)
  • No dancing of any kind is allowed in the customer seating area.
  • In case of any untoward incident in the establishments, inform the police control room, i.e., dial 112.
