Pune: Pune Police Commissioner Initiates Stringent Action Against Reign of Terror in Wanwadi; Nabs 22-Year-Old Recidivist

Pune: In a decisive move to curb the menace of criminal activities in the Wanwadi police station limits, Pune Police Commissioner Ritesh Kumar has invoked the Maharashtra Prevention of Dangerous Activities (MPDA) Act against 22-year-old Aman Azim Sheikh, a resident of Anandnagar, Ramtekdi, Hadapsar, Pune. This marks the 98th such action taken by the Police Commissioner under the MPDA Act.

Aman Sheikh, a notorious criminal, has been involved in a series of serious offences within the jurisdiction of the Wanwadi police station. The crimes include attempted murder, forced theft, robbery, and possession of illegal weapons such as iron rods, knives, and swords.

Over the past three years, Aman Sheikh has been named under three serious criminal charges, significantly disrupting public order in the area. His reign of terror has instilled fear among citizens, discouraging them from openly reporting incidents due to concerns for their safety.

Upon receiving a proposal to take action against Aman Sheikh under the MPDA Act, Pune City Police Commissioner Ritesh Kumar meticulously examined the submissions and supporting documents. Subsequently, the Commissioner issued an order to detain Aman Sheikh in Nagpur Central Jail under the MPDA Act for a duration of one year.

The operation was executed by a dedicated team led by Wanwadi Police Station Senior Police Inspector Sanjay Patange, along with Pune Crime Branch Senior Police Inspector Chandrakant Bedare and other diligent police officers and enforcers.
