Pune PMC On Potholes | Roads in Pune will be freed of potholes; PMC takes important decision about road digging

PUNE : Pune PMC On Potholes | The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has decided to develop 15 roads in the city as model roads. Before these roads are developed, the digging work in all areas will be completed. Later, the roads will be built anew and for next three years, no digging work will be carried out on these roads. The civic administration has claimed that these roads will get a complete new look due to some additional measures.

The information was given by Addl Municipal Commissioner Vikas Dhakne. “The PMC has selected 15 important roads. These roads will be developed on priority. But to prevent digging of the roads after the roads are built, discussions will be held with water supply, drainage, electricity and other departments. These departments will be told to complete the digging work as early as possible. After these works are over, the roads will be re-asphalted or concretised,” Dhakne said.

All encroachments will be removed when the roads will be newly built. The DPs of MSEDCL and other things will be shifted to the roadside. The footpaths will be rebuilt. No flexes or hoardings will be permitted on these roads. No overhead cables will be permitted on these roads. To prevent the digging of roads due to laying of cables, ducts will be created on these roads. After discussions with the traffic police, the punctures on the roads will be reduced and signals will be synchronised, Dhakne said.

On these model roads, works like removing garbage on road dividers, painting, installing flower beds on road dividers will be carried out. The concerned contractor will have to install traffic signages, direction signages and their repairs for three years. After the road is constructed, the responsibility of repairs and maintenance for three years wrests with the contractor.

“An initiative of ‘Mission 15’ has been undertaken for Nagar Road, Solapur Road, Magarpatta Road, Pashan Road, Aundh Road, Banr Roads, Sangamwadi Road, Vimantal VIP Road, Karve Road, Satara Road, Sinhagad Road, Bibvewadi Road, Koregaon Park North Main Road, Ganeshkhind Road to SB Road, Shivaji Road. These 15 roads will prove a model for the city. In the first phase, tenders for nine roads will be floated and an expenditure of ₹40 crore is expected,” said Vikas Dhakne, Addl Municipal Commissioner.
