Pune News | Railway Introduces ‘Restaurant on Wheels’ to Enhance Passenger Experience at Pune Station

Pune: Pune News | In a bid to provide seamless catering services to railway passengers, the railway administration has initiated the concept of a ‘Restaurant on Wheels’ at the Pune station. This innovative venture, already successfully implemented at Chinchwad station in Pune division, aims to enhance the travel experience of passengers and cater to their dining needs around the clock.

 

The ‘Restaurant on Wheels’ facility, housed in a dedicated railway coach, is now operational in the back parking lot of Pune station. The railway administration has entrusted the responsibility of managing this service to M/s Om Industries. The contract, spanning five years, was awarded to the contractor, who will oversee the setup, decoration, and management of the restaurant.

 

Passengers can look forward to a diverse and delectable dining experience at the ‘Restaurant on Wheels.’ From savory meals to refreshing beverages, the facility is equipped to cater to a wide range of culinary preferences. The railway administration has ensured the provision of necessary infrastructure, including the track, drainage, and a dedicated railway coach for the restaurant.

 

With the contract signed, the contractor has committed to paying Rs 3 crore 18 lakh in revenue to the Railways over the next five years. This initiative is not only a testament to the railway administration’s commitment to passenger satisfaction but also a forward-looking approach towards modernizing facilities for travelers.

 

Harsha Shah, Chairman of the Railway Passenger Group, expressed appreciation for the railway administration’s efforts in implementing this service. She highlighted the positive impact it would have on passengers, enhancing their convenience and comfort during their journey.

 

The ‘Restaurant on Wheels’ is poised to become a focal point for passengers at Pune station, offering a welcoming space to indulge in delightful meals while waiting for their trains. The facility is strategically located near the rear entrance, ensuring easy accessibility for travelers.
